Nice work and cool pose.

only thing that I would suggest is dropping the contrasts on the “snacks” yellow shorts.  The black/brown in the creases seems too dark for wet yellow shorts.

(I never thought I would recommend reducing contrast on a mini). 😲

As you said...gross (in the most perfect way!). I think the blue skin tone really works...it evokes thoughts of a body that's been in cold water (and you've moved through the different tones beautifully). I wouldn't have thought to go with the green fins, but it really works on this guy (and, again, great highlighting). Well-done from top to bottom.

As for the water effect, you may want to find out whatever Othikent used for that Washing Woman mini a while back...Not sure how long it takes to cure, but it looks great.: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/99414-washing-women-3d-printed-rn-estudio/

I don't know.  The coloring and shading looks pretty good for shorts stained with the usual result of death

As for fast curing water...you could go with Greenstuffworld UV Resin. You need a little UV curing light as well, also available from them. I used it for my Komodo Dragon piece.

It can be cured between 10 and 30 minutes depending on the depth.

@Kangaroorexthank you!  Honestly, i wasn't going to look up "dead body shorts colors" on Google,Google.  I hoped the dirty look was clear.  I looked the other feedback that may be worth dulling them a bit.  I appreciate the positive comment!

@Chaoswolf thank you, too!  I used the Woodland Scenics water effects.  I like it because it has a little texture to it, but the stuff has a limitation in how long it takes to cure. It was literally 3 days.  THREE.  I may look into this uv resin that @Glitterwolfmentioned.  I've seen vallejo has a water paste too and i really like their products. I just don't know if anyone had used it and could give me feedback.

@Glitterwolfyou never fail to find the good with someone's work.  Thanks!  I was also eye-balling that uv resin from GSW. I filled my basket, but stopped when the shipping nearly was the same as the products.  I couldn't find the product here stateside, so i gave up.  What you described is exactly what i want. I may have to pull the trigger now that i know you've used it and liked the results.

I also used Vallejo Water Effects.

I have different ones, one is a paste which needs to cure for a long time.

Used that here:

I also use Still Water, which comes in a bottle, needs less time to dry.

Used that here:

@AlonTeyaaaaand thank you so much!  I think it's one thing to say it's good, but to hear it's an improvement and the change over time is noticeable, dude... that feels great to hear.

I colored the base before filling it in with a green, blue and turquoise.  I used basic green flock and wetted it down with super glue.  It gives it a damp, wet material look.  Once the base was dry, i filled it in with the Woodland Scenics water effects.  Voila!

impressive progress. I love watching your work!

Like Glitterwolf I'd recommend UV resin. Mine is by GSW, but there are probably other manufacturers out there. It's quick to work with and very controllable. I usually finish with a top layer of Vallejo Water Effects (the gel) for waves and ripples. If the sides are too matte, a coat of gloss varnish helps.

Used the method on this guy here. The crests of the wave were done with another Vallejo product called Foam & Snow.

@Samediand again to have someone else see improvement over time is a great thing.  I joined here in 2020 and feel the growth from comments and watching others has really helped me get a better grasp on painting.  There's still so much i don't understand, but i lean to this group to help me get there.

I totally need to buy that uv resin at this point.  I've heard it 4 different times and i think the cost of shipping is negated by the use and creativity of the product.  I'm going to have to find another piece to use some water effects on and go for it!
