QUESTION Sept. 9th.

Suppose any tree or plant/bush would grow in your garden( or suppose you have a garden!) despite the weather type and you would have the room/money for it.

Pick the 10 trees/plants/bushes you would like to have in your garden that bear fruits/nuts/veggies!

Ten?  This feels almost like homework! 😛

I'd be happy with apples (2-3 varieties), oranges, bananas, apricots, plums, and peaches...  Oh yeah, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries aaaand that's just getting started...

There'd also be tomatoes, potatoes, various herbs...

Some pear and cherry trees for their beauty as well as fruit. Peach, mango, orange, walnut, pecan, apple and some other flowering trees just for beauty.

So already being a bit of a gardener this is more of a wish list of plants I'd like to be able to grow well here and not necessarily a list of plants I could grow if I chose to.

I'd love some citrus trees. lime, lemon, mandarin, and maybe a yuzu tree would be nice. Even though they grow just fine in this region I don't have anywhere that would grow Paw Paw trees, so those would be on the list. Same with peaches, they grow just fine in Ohio, but they're kind of finicky from what I understand, so some of those as well. I'd also like some Bing Cherry trees. They can also be grown here, but they prefer more northern growing zones. So they don't do too well. I'd also like to be able to grow coffee bushes, that just sounds like fun. And coconut trees. I'd be happy with a big palm tree somewhere near the house. Finally it would be really cool to grow chestnuts. Not because they can't grow around here, they actually grow really well here. But they're pretty much guaranteed to die due to chestnut blight. So if we're going with the fantasy of plants I'd like to see grow, that would have to be on the list.

Native cherry, some walnut.. I'd like some of the native pollinator-food plants, too; local milkweeds, frex.

You'd think some of them would be easier to get, but... heh. Nope.

QUESTION SEPT. 7th.

When attending a Con you acquire stuff like the Ribbons from Reapercon and maybe other stuff like buttons/patches etc etc.

Same goes for any event where you get swag bags/collectibles etc.

What do you do with these when the Con is over?

Well up until now I have been saving all the ribbons and medals in the single drawer of my painting desk .  As of this year I have to admit that it is full.
this years ribbons are sitting on my bookshelf net to my bed.  I suppose I need to put a hook somewhere and hang them there - but the two years with the longest trails have weak points where they break from their own weight.    I could do a separate hook for just my bronze medals.

TLDR ;  old storage full,  um.....

QUESTION SEPT 8Th.

You have all the money/room/resources needed, what ( Hobby Related!) will you create/buy/build?

A huge D&D Dungeon Room? A Lifesize Succubus? A Dragon in your backyard?

Tell us your ultimate hobby dream.

BEST QUESTION.

gaming table ,  with at least 7 chairs  -  and enough glass, dust tight, display cases for completed minis.  & Dioramas. - bookshelves for all gaming books.
I know that this is an achievable set up - but  it would actually require a larger house than I possess.
oh and a secret (behind a bookshelf) door to enter.

QUESTION Sept. 5th.

The Con is over.   How was it for you?   Seen great costumes/played a cool game/met nice people?  Tell us about it.

Fantastic.  Met cool new people - and had lots of fun hanging out with old friends from online/previous cons  and local painting group.
Continued to dress like a pirate,  lots of complements on the Hat and Feather - I can see why several regulars have adopted distinctive hats to wear every year.  Could not get my minimalist cloak / Brooch to wear correctly, left it in my room.  I missed the costume contest (although still dressed as a pirate)  because I was too busy playing D&D space pirates.    Spelljammer game ran like a dream,  funny, gonzo,  Players really liked the ridiculous PCs.
I got a Trophy!
Gummy Painting!
I found my pants!  (sunday morning is hard yo.)

With yesterday's QofD, it feels like we're starting to build our dream homes.

Obviously, I'd go with produce I actually like to eat: Tomatoes, onions, garlic, cabbage, squash (butternut, spaghetti), strawberries, melons (water, honeydew), peanuts, carrots, hot peppers (any).

You'll notice an absence of fruit trees. Shrubs and bushes sure, but not trees.

So much so that if we are building dream homes, I'm just going to live next to everyone else and mooch from their gardens. Everyone's already said what I'd want. But I'll emphasize lemon trees, I cannot get enough lemons.

Remember, when life gives you lemons, freeze them, and throw them at the people who annoy you.

The wife might be happy if I had a succubus because I'd pester her less. I almost have everything I want for hobbies but the problem is that it's scattered between 2 houses 30 km/20 miles apart. And even in my house with most of it my playing area is at the opposite end of the basement from the painting/working/storage.  The playing area is also shared with my daughter now so it's hard to leave things set up for ages. For the extra big and dirty jobs I do them either in the garage or at the farm. The garage is cold in the winter, hot in the summer. The wife doesn't like me leaving the vehicles on the street when I want to do something that'll take a lot of space and time. I've got the space I need at the farm and can leave my clutter without it bothering anybody but I like having everything in town so I can immediately do things as the mood takes me. That's why I slowly migrated 90% of the collection into town.

So my simple dream (which will likely never happen) is a couple of large connected rooms just for my stuff. One will have several tables of different sizes and all the games, minis and terrain right at hand. The other room would be the workshop with multiple 3D printers, all of my woodworking tools plus things on my wish list and lots of storage for materials. If we're talking sky's the limit possibilities I'd have another area that would be an armoury/display area containing many weapons and armour from ancient times to today, all in usable condition.

I just wish the plants that can grow here would always give decent yields. Our garden is absolute [email protected] this year. A total loss on many things because of weather and grasshoppers. We tried growing.

Potatoes - will have a ok amount but they're small this year

Tomatoes - grew ok

Beets - didn't grow early and got eaten before getting big enough to dig up

Green/string beans - got a small amount

Peas - grasshoppers and raccoons ate them all

Carrots - didn't sprout properly and are still tiny

Onions - smaller than average and grasshopper ate the stalks

zucchini - grew and blooming for the last month but no zucchinis forming.

cucumbers - got a few small ones before the hopper ate them

lettuce - hot summer and it was very bitter. Grew well but even the hoppers didn't want to eat it.

A short list of the things that don't grow here that we eat a lot of.

Sweet apples

Mango

Bananas
