QUESTION SEPT.12th.

What are your favorite Mushrooms ( either to eat or to admire)?

The ones from @malefactus wonderful creations. And do not forget, mushrooms are why Space Wolves in 40k like fighting orks.

Orks=fungus=mushrooms=pizza=beer...any excuse to drink and eat pizza.

QUESTION Sept. 9th.

Suppose any tree or plant/bush would grow in your garden( or suppose you have a garden!) despite the weather type and you would have the room/money for it.

Pick the 10 trees/plants/bushes you would like to have in your garden that bear fruits/nuts/veggies!

OK, we'll pretend I found the hidden fortune of Croesus and I have a Gardener and an Arborist on staff to take care of my Arboretum.

Strawberries, Key Limes, Apples, Pears, Grapes and Peaches. The last two would do OK outdoors round-these-here-parts the others might need to be inside the structure. Staff gets to figure that out, harvest the produce, stomp the grapes, etc.

WEEKEND QUESTION Sept. 10th/11th,

Can you already see signs of Fall?

Nothing as yet. There are random trees here and there that have gone brown or yellow due to the August drought.

No, I can't. I think (at least in the part I'm in) fall in Texas is only about a week long.

OK, here is how it really works:

Fall is coming, but it will be at least four weeks later than @Dilvish the Deliverer experiences. But! it will last until February. Winter will be a one week long event inserted into Fall. And it will choose a random week to happen. We might get two random weeks of winter, most likely separated by 1d4 weeks. Once per 36 years a two week long deep freeze could happen. (Roll 1,1 on 2d6)

Contemplate these factoids: Cairo and Giza, Egypt (the site of the great pyramids) are at 30ºN latitude. Denton and Reaper HQ are at 33ºN latitude. Casablanca, Morocco is at 33º North.  You are a long way from the North Pole roughly even with the North edge of Africa.

QUESTION SEPT. 12th.

What are your favorite Mushrooms (either to eat or to admire)?

To admire: Agaricus Malefactium @malefactus all the way!!

To eat: those ones they put on pizzas. Sausage / Mushroom is a great combo.

Now I want pizza…

I had a go at drawing mushrooms once.

But @malefactus remains the shroom-master.

QUESTION SEPT.12th.

I feel the same way about all 'shrooms: N-O-P-E!

What I really can't figure out are the well meaning souls who, upon hearing that I won't eat them, declare that you can barely taste them....then why put them in there in the first place?!

But I admit that I find the amanita muscaria mushroom interesting.  It's poisonous to humans, but caribou/reindeer eat them.  Then the caribou get an "enhanced" reality.  Then some poor soul discovered that the caribou physiology allegedly (I've not tried it, nor would I) neutralizes whatever it is that makes people sick and leaves the "enhancements" in the reindeer's...byproduct.

I don't think I've ever been that thirsty, and hope never to be.  Nope.  Nope.  Nope.

QUESTION SEPT. 12th.

What are your favorite Mushrooms (either to eat or to admire)?

I do have a favorite mushroom!   I though this was a question to skip, yet hear I am.
Chicken-of-th-woods ,  an unmistakable  yellow and orange shelf fungus - that is edible raw, and tastes like chicken.
It grows in my state and nothing else looks like it, If I found some I would have to try it.

I found out about it when painting reapers mushroom men.  I have thrown sentient versions at D&D parties twice, and after a discussion

neither party ate it.

I like cooler temperatures when they eventually get here.  Summer lingers longer every year.

I hate Halloween ads and decorations that include spiders. I have a severe case of arachnophobia, and when people put cobwebs and giant freaking spiders in their trees or on their houses...well, it isn't good for my health.

Fall/Autumn, What do you like/dislike about the Season?

Anything you look forward to?

The Tyranny of the Sun is at its end, also the sunlight has finally gotten back to more or less its proper yellowish tint so I no longer feel a Lovecraftian "wrongness" to the world every time I venture outside, combined with questioning my own sanity in that I am the only one that seems to notice/care about this among the people I usually associate with.

The days grow shorter, which means I have longer hours under the cover of darkness to get some decent lurking going on.

I seem to have some reversed seasonal funk where in summer I am listless and discontented, but with the coming of Fall/Winter I find myself increasingly energized. This process has already begun and mighty elf, it feels good! Like emerging from a deep and troubled slumber.

Increased cloudy days provide better contrast, I can see better/farther when outside.

As Halloween and the Great Pumpkin approach, the veil between worlds grows thin and I can "sense" things easier. The spiritual side of things drawing closer is comforting in a way which I haven't the proper words to describe, even as it comes with the downside of never being quite alone in the kitchen at night, and the spirits of the original owners of the house chasing me to my bedroom doorway on a regular basis.(Even this though has the feeling of proper tradition to it by now however)

The unexpected pumpkin vine that showed up in the garden and killed off everything else has four pumpkins already coloring nicely.

Soon the leaves shall change cover and give way to bare trees and yellowed grass, which will bring inspiration for my scenery projects.(Also I can easier imagine myself dwelling in the Gothic Horror style landscape I really do wish I did inhabit.)

On Nov 1st, Reeses cups and Pieces will be bountiful and cheap.

This wretched year draws finally to a close as the Great Pumpkin rises.

The return of coat season, and high winds to give dramatic flapping to the long coats.

Things I am not looking forward to....

Fending off the Turkey Spirits on Thanksgiving Eve.

Having to shovel snow.

Commercials for black friday/hypercommerialization of Christmas.

Increased odds of frozen pipes.

Joint pain.

I like the colours of nature and the appearance of more mushrooms during the Season.

I do not like the rains and grey days.

What I look forward to, food of the Season.

Stews, Soups, Oven Dishes all with veggies of the Season and soon...Hunting Season so Boar,Duck,Deer, etc. and oddly enough Lamb will be on the Menu.

Likes:

- weather is decent again

- night falls sooner, which means easier for someone on dayshift to do astrophotography

- we have an actual night (the sun actually fully sets)

- breezes don't just move heat around

- cloud cover is gorgeous (during the day)

Dislikes:

- buses are full of people, even the 06:30 ones

- Lemmings and cell phone zombies are out in full force, and they've once again forgotten that twenty thousand pound trucks can't stop on a dime and have large blind spots.  Yes I call pedestrians who don't care to pay attention lemmings.

- Way too many try to get sympathy for the weather becoming colder, without realizing that hey, I had to be out in that heat wave and it was not enjoyable.  These are the same ones that look at you as if you're an alien when you say you prefer the cold because you can at least dress for it...

The main reason Spring is my favorite season & Autumn a distant second is there is an underlying sadness to Autumn.

The trees, however, have a glorious way of going out that I admire. When the end come going out in a flash of brilliant color sounds like the way to go.

It's still my favorite season overall.

  • Temperatures are now bearable. Humidity is replaced by crisp air. I won't needlessly break out into a sweat if I'm active outside. And if it's a bit chilly, a light jacket is enough.
  • Harvest season for all the produce I like. They're plentiful, large and cheap.
  • Fall colors. Lots warm reds and yellows in a few weeks.

What I like less in that middle ground between late fall and early winter. No remaining leaves, no snow yet to brighten up the place, cold rain. Basically most of November is dreary and depressing.
