For the ones who didn't go.

It's Monday again.

How was your weekend?

Do you look forward to something

Wasn't too bad. Got the pizza I had been craving all week, watched the premiere of The Rings of Power (so-so, bit of a slow build hopefully). Still healing my wrist, so no painting or lifting outside of work. Wanted to put the 3d printer together, but I still need to clear off a space for it and the box is a bit unwieldy to move with previously mentioned wrist problem. And still have one last load of laundry to put into the washer.

Nothing really that I'm looking forward to this week. Except my paycheck.

Here we go:

QUESTION SEPT. 1st.

REAPERCON has started.

For those who attend:

What are you looking forward to when you're there?

Anyone you like to meet, specific classes you want to take, games you want to play?

For those left behind all alone on this almost empty Forum:

What are you going to do while many forumites are not here?

Any special plans for today and the coming weekend?

What is your reason for not going?

Catching up with friends/meeting new ones. Other than that, I try not to make too many plans ahead of time. There's just so much to do there, it's hard not to end up missing something cool.

WEEKEND QUESTION Sept. 2nd / Sept. 4th.

For those of you at Reapercon:

Show pics from the event.

Are you in costume, what is the best costume you have seen there?

Highlights/lows of the Con?

For those not at the Con:

Have you ever build a DM screen yourself from scratch? Or do you prefer factory made?

Or do you decorate it in any way?

If so, pics?

( thx to @knarthex)

My pics (I still need to get better about taking more) are in the Reapercon photo thread.

I didn't do a costume.

There were some really good ones there; the not-Boba Fett was good, as was The plague Doctor, Sophie/ @OneBoot, and the Barbarian king.

Highlights for me were teaching my classes, and having them be very well received. My basing classes were both sold out pretty quickly, and I had some of the attendees approach me afterwards and thank me for them, saying that they really got a lot out of it. Low was a forum member needing to go to the hospital. He was able to return, and he is ok. No, I'm not getting any more specific than that.

QUESTION Sept. 5th.

The Con is over.

How was it for you?

Seen great costumes/played a cool game/met nice people?

Tell us about it.

For the ones who didn't go.

It's Monday again.

I enjoyed myself, and a had a great time. I kinda accidentally answered this in the previous question. I was able to talk to several of the artists there to get some pointers for finishing a project that I originally started for last years con and never finished. I also got to play in one of @ReaperWolf's games; that was very cool, and a fun time.  We were playing Reaper's Dungeon Dwellers rules; I quite like them.

I can't tell you too much about it, 'cause what happens at Reapercon, stays at Reapercon. ::P:

The weekend was "OK": the football game was a victory (which it should have been), and I think everyone had a good time.  Pa Strawhat likes to overcompensate, though, and we ended up doubling some food items because he didn't remember that I told him those items would be brought by the girls.  Mrs. Strawhat and I are both sick (just annoying summer colds), but getting better.  We'll be having lunch with Pa Strawhat today.

I look forward to Wednesday when the dog goes back home.  I like dogs, just not this one.  It's not really his fault, he came from a bad situation (to my understanding).  The thing is Mrs. Strawhat gets agitated by him as well, but refuses to say "no" whenever her former boss asks.  It's only for a couple more days...

The Con was great! Getting to meet so many Forum friends and put faces to them. Sad that I saw @OneBoot wander through while I was demoing a game and didn't get to meet her. Next year I'm gonna wear my Bowler hat so people can find me easier for Bingo. Today we unloaded the truck and now have laundry going from the trip. Slow day here, just catching up on several forums is my goal for the day. That, and unpacking the rest of the the Chronoscope expansion I picked up.

Weekend was pretty good. Went to a local Cultural Festival and ate a big thing of ice cream.

Looking forward to the Reapercon minis going up for sale, they're rather snazzy this year (Particularly the barbarian dude!).

Weekend was quiet enough, managed to get some hobbying done. Decided my initial missile launchers weren't good enough, printed off better ones for my Fulmentarus Terminators.

Not sure of what I'm looking forward to, but my birthday is tomorrow.

I'm sorry I missed you! Next year I'm going to be very careful about not packing my schedule so I can actually hang out and see people more!

Huzzah!

Weekend was quiet. There was chili. It was good.

Am mostly looking forward to things not being one crisis after the other for a little while. Maybe as much as a month or so.

I have never done this.

That is what I have used. However prefer is a strong word.

( thx to @knarthex)

Never done that either. The closest I have gotten to a DM screen built from scratch was to stand a ring binder up unfolded. One of those can function like a screen. Some ring binders have insert pockets on the exterior—I do not remember if I ever tried inserting anything in one on the outside as decoration or illustration.

(This whole topic came up when @knarthex and I discussed screens during a hangouts session. It got saved away on my list of topics, and then passed on to @Glitterwolf when I ran out of August.)

It was uneventful.  I got some painting done on D&L terrain.

I woke up early this morning, so I look forward to a full night of sleep.

Except for today it was pretty much bog standard.

Today was my first day volunteering as Train Crew at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City.

We had a 4-6-0 wheel arrangement steam locomotive pulling the train, which consisted of two open cars with roofs and a passenger car.

I'm sore, achy, and from the way I feel I know tomorrow is going to be a day of my body protesting all of today's activities which included getting on and off of train cars some 50 times, mostly not at the station platform, a lot of walking, and talking to people [passengers from babes in arms to octogenarians], and generally having more fun and learning more stuff about the nuts and bolts operations of antique railroad equipment than any one person should be allowed to do in a single day.

I've still got a grin on my face.

QUESTION SEPT. 6th.

Do you use the same character in different games?

For RPGs where characters get rolled up or assigned stats usually each is different.

I have not really ever created / recreated the same character under various different rules, such as:  D&D > Runequest > AD&D > WFRP > Space 1889 > Traveller > GURPS

It never occured to me to do that.

This can also apply to PC /video games

For PC based video games I have done this.

Colonel Purple has fought many, many, times across numerous worlds, moonlets, crystal spheres, and such.
