If anyone on here has signed up for my 5e games this year, a BIG THANK YOU for doing that! It warms my heart every time I see that happen.

Does anybody know what the 500 Reaperbucks in the swag bag is typically worth at the Reaperbucks store? Is that roughly on bottle of paint? One large bones mini?

I’m trying to talk myself into purchasing the swag bag and would like to know the rough value of Reaperbucks.

@Reaper_JonIs there a way to add the meet and greet to our Con schedules?

I am really excited for all this, have only been once before back in 2017 so it’s been a few years.

IIRC, 500 doesn't get much these days. I think it might get a Reaper Cup with candy in it.

First of all, you do get a swag bag free with admission.  Maybe you are considering an extra one, I'm not sure.

As for what the 500 Reaperbucks are worth, it really kind of depends.  I've only been to one ReaperCon, but it was last year so it will probably be pretty comparable.  Last year I walked away with about $200 worth (retail value) of dungeon terrain for 1,800 Reaper Bucks, a Reaper hat for 300, and a few extra Bones 5 miniatures for 100 Reaperbucks a piece (though it was a random draw, you could not pick the piece).  They had extra Bones 5 Kickstarter expansions that I think were 2,000 or 3,000, I don't remember for sure.  They had T-shirts for something like 1,500, though I did not buy one so I might be misremembering the price, and there were a bunch of other options.  The options did tend to thin out considerably by Saturday morning, but there is the auction on Sunday too, which I did not attend but which is supposed to have some decent deals.

In short, I thought the Reaperbucks were fairly valuable, but they were also not difficult to earn.  I certainly wouldn't buy an extra swag bag for those.

It's not chump change.  Last year IIRC it was mostly handed out in $100 increments, and you could accumulate it easily.  100 for wearing a Reaper branded item like hat or shirt, 200 for doing a speed paint, they give you some for entering the contest, too.  I think shirts were 1500, and they had a ton of them available.  There were some unboxed dragons for around 2k. Paint cups with a few minis and some candy were 500.  There were old Expansion sets for a couple grand.  Lots of small things like patches, stickers, ribbons, pens, etc for very little.  Unlike the auction the prices don't go sky high.  So far the stuff in the Brinewind store has all been separate from the Reaper store.  So you can't use the Bucks to buy paint or the latest figures on the rack, only the swag items.  If you see something you want you should be able to hustle up some Reaperbucks within a day or two.  Or ask around, some folks might be willing to split a boxed set with you.  I did that year before last, 3 of us went in on a Darkreach box.

Ah. I was not aware of that. Thank you.

Also, thanks to everyone for all the answers that gives me a pretty good ballpark view of what Reaperbucks are.

So I got classes/games booked! This was far less convoluted than Growtix.

Those string puzzles where one must follow a line from one chaotic knotted mess to the other side are less convoluted that GrowTix.

Got all the classes I wanted. Surprised as I was doing it just over the phone.

Yeah, TabletopEvents is very easy to use. Our local conventions have been using it for years.

The class that I most wanted sold out in the first 15-20 minutes while the site was crashing because of all the people who were stealing my class all at once. Fear my wrath, mortals!!!!!

::P:

I did get another one that I wanted, though. I'm on the waiting list for the first one, maybe I'll get lucky.

I hope you didn’t accidentally try to register for your own class. 😉

It really varies as the convention is progressing.  My best recollection is that the full case of leftover paints from the classes was about 10k reaper bucks retail at the Brinewind store.  During the auction, these soared to 20 - 25k. Stickers or paint cups were in the 100 - 1000 range.  Showing up for a hobby hijinx I think earned you 100 - 300 reaper bucks.

personally, I wouldn’t base much on the reaperbuck value, it’s more of a fun add-on thing.  I’d base the swag on the value of the figures + paints, as well as any memorabilia type value.

Ooh, rats, I’m sorry to hear that. ☹️ What were you trying to get?  We got over half of our desired classes, but we also dialed way back to avoid the overbooked/burnout scenario.

I had the same issue, lol.  I got two of the 3 I was most wanting though.

Myself, two classes I didn't get (during the initial server crash) were the advanced shadowing and highlighting; then the OSL and lighting effects. Curiously, both given by Diamondstone.

Otherwise, I'm only taking three classes this year (and one of them is Bones Mashup!) and spending more time on games and events.

Paint the hordes by Christine Van Patten. (speed painting using the various 'speed paint' products available)
