Moderator Chaoswolf Posted July 18 Moderator Share Posted July 18 Entry? You mean we're supposed to paint something beforehand? I thought the idea was to start something a week or 2 before, leave most of it unfinished, and plan to finish 'the last couple of things' in a mad panic while actually AT the con? Have I been doing it wrong this whole time?

I have a few things I plan to enter this year, and I can't seem to quite finish any of them. I still have over a month though... 3 hours ago, Chaoswolf said: Entry? Have I been doing it wrong this whole time? That is what I did last year, my first ReaperCon, when I didn't intend to enter anything until someone told me I should really just finish something I had with me and enter it. This year I was going to plan ahead and enter a few things. I'm not quite following the plan.
Pegazus
No entry for me this year. Been rough, and so out of practice, that I wouldn't be bringing what I know I am capable of.

Further behind than normal here, unfortunately. I have one peice that's about 1/3 of the way done. I really need to focus and get stuff done but I've had other things distracting me..... 8 hours ago, Pegazus said: No entry for me this year. I might finish something but at the moment nothing I've finished this year was even close to on the same level as what I entered last year so, yeah...
klarg1
I still have faint ambitions of finishing an entry for this year, but I’m starting to think my policy should be to just enter whatever I painted in the open room at the previous year’s con. Who knows? Maybe it’ll teach me to speed paint?

Moderator OneBoot Posted July 19 Moderator Share Posted July 19 I'm trying to figure out how a whole year is suddenly gone. I have this glorious idea for a diorama that I came up with on the plane ride home, drew diagrams and I even have all the minis. I just haven't put in the hours to bring it to life yet, mostly due to the garden and sprinklers needing a substantial amount of attention this year. That's wrapping up this week, though, so starting next week I will be devoting 1-2 hours per day on nothing but painting. Hope springs eternal! Dilvish the Deliverer
2 hours ago, PammyD2 said: Are we allowed to put our models or dioramas on a spinning display?? I've seen them on turntables before. As long as it doesn't break the size limits, it should be OK.

I would strongly recommend attaching it to the display, since judges will probably lift and tilt your entry to get a good look at it. I got this feedback myself the first time I entered a piece on a small turntable. 🙂 If it isn't attached, make sure to leave a note for the judges indicating this so they know not to pick up the piece by the spinning part. haldir
There are 5 scenery pieces for my games that have allot of detail on them, something that is a bit of pain to paint with Contrast style paints. I'm pretty sure these 4 (what I have left if them) will be the final things off my table. I did do an assembly of the one that is 80% finished & the way its coming out thou makes me wanna see them all fully painted up. As far as a painted entry, I'm pretty sure I'll have something. It relates to me wanting a custom stl file to print out. I'm not going for any award with the entry. I just want to show my thanks to Reaper & all the fun I've had over the years of coming down for a weekend.

Dicey
I have a whole long ambitious list of potential entries (different categories/manufacturer awards). I've put paint on about 6 of them and only 1 is in that fiddly "almost done" stage. I started it in March. Another is nearly done paint wise but needs a lot of basing work. My main entry has not been started yet. Several others too haven't been started. We'll see what I get done. Unfortunately, I've had a lot of time diverted to projects asked of us by our FLGS. And we'll be doing a charity thing in August that will take some more time. Oh well. It is what it is. My husband has not started any. Speaking of husband, I think he's in one of your Shadowdeep games @Corsair. 4
Inarah
Jon showed us moldmaking on Reaperland today. These figures might be for Reapercon: 5
