Popular Post Dr Boom
The latest to be pulled out of the Brinewind Scenery bag is the Drunken Mermaid Bar. While it would have looked good with a basic aged wood finish, there are some nice details on this one that it's worth taking time on. I figure the bar is exposed to the elements, so lots of corrosion on the metal bits. Being on a wharf, it may even get its feet wet during high tides, so a little bit of green wash at the base helps to break up the wood grain, as does a few shades representing stains on the bar top. I painted the mermaid herself as luridly as possible, reflecting a barkeep with the barest of artistic skills, but then weathered it to within an inch of its life. 30

Moderator Chaoswolf Posted September 19, 2022 Moderator Share Posted September 19, 2022 I've been there and knocked back a few pints! The bartender has a pretty interesting story about that sign , if you can convince him to tell it. Very nice work. 2
Grand Slam
Very cool. Nice weathering on the wood, and your entire approach to the he mermaid was well-conceived and well-executed 1

golldan
Like the rusty rivets and the reddish tint to the barrels to contrast with the bar top - Nice.
